Smerz is the Norwegian duo of Henriette Motzfeldt and Catharina Stoltenberg, based in Oslo and Copenhagen. Through collages, the pair captures moments of everyday life and dreams, telling stories of apathy, loneliness, love, friendship, and internal monologue. The duo blends genres, drawing inspiration from classical composition, experimental computer music, and the immediacy of pop, all filtered through a lens of girly existentialism. Their discography includes the debut album Believer on XL Recordings, EPs Have Fun and Okey, the pop project ALLINA, and the choir piece Tidligere den dagen with GAEA, released on their own label, Shopping. Smerz has performed at Tate Modern, MOCA Geffen, Berghain, Volksbühne, MIRA Festival (with Weirdcore) & developed special projects with the Norwegian National Company of Contemporary Dance.
